the worse part about this movie ....

that young kids dont appreciate the art that Tommy has used. Tommy is such a beautiful movie, music is awesome, its really not that trippy if you understand the metaphores. There are teeney boppers out there today who only listen to emo are whatever crud is out there today and the only poems they like to read are about death or why the girlfriends or boyfriends broke up with them. You can't change to what they listen to today but when they come onto this website and bash the crap out of this movie becuase it wasn't like Pink Floyd the Wall, its just bothersome. But any who im not comparing this to The Wall. Both Rock operas at there best, both well directed.

This must be the weirdest thread on this board.

I'm 17 and I have shown this film to a few of my friends and they all loved it and wanted to see it again. It was a few years ago already and I think the main reason they liked it was because they found it funny. I guess that's better than hating it.

I'm 19. I DO listen to some music that might be considered "emo" and a lot of other stuff that isn't anything like The Who at all. But I absolutely LOVE The Who. Way more than most of the bands I listened to. When I finally got around to watching this movie, I fell in love! The music is amazing, the acting is amazing, it's hilarious in parts (especially "Fiddle About" XD Oh Keith.). Every time I watch it, it makes me so happy all of the sudden. The random appearances by Clapton, Nicholson, and too many others to mention, overwhelm me with joy. Haha. Why would anyone bash this movie? It's the epitome of brilliant! Damn young people, they don't understand anything. XD Also, I haven't seen The Wall yet, but I definitely want to, and plan to some time soon.

Could you elaborate on the metaphor of the bean scene?

I don't understand evolution, and I have to protect my kids from understanding it!

It's a drunken hallucination/nervous breakdown showing Nora's guilt for her son. It's also a huge statement on commercialism.

It's also a sly in-joke on the band. Nearly a decade before Tommy (the movie) premiered, the Who had released an album called The Who Sell Out, which was a concept album about pirate radio stations complete with mock announcements and commercial parodies. One of those ad parodies was for Heinz baked beans, and one of the photos on the album cover shows Roger Daltrey sitting in a bathtub full of baked beans while holding a huge can of Heinz baked beans.

Oh yeah sure, anyone who hates the hamfisted attempts at symbolism and "metaphors" in this overcooked piece of drek is obviously an emo teen.

The worse part of this movie is the first half. Picks up after the Cousin and Uncle Songs.
