Between this and THE PARALLAX VIEW

...if I have to choose, which one should I see?

I've seen (and really liked) ALL THE PRESIDENTS' MEN, don't know if that means I'd prefer Pakula again. Or having Redford as the star. :-)

reply

i watched all the president's men last night starring robert redford again. and i just finished watching three days of the condor a few minutes ago. i did not know robert redford was this hot and appealing. just now i see his younger face. i was used to seeing him old. he is a famous star back then.

reply

Watch butch cassidy and the sundance kid

reply

Barefoot In The Park, a very young looking 31.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

The Parallax View is definitely the superior film and worth watching for the montage sequence in it alone. This is a good movie too, however.

reply

My compare/contrast between the two is that Condor is a little closer to a slick Hollywood movie, and Parallax is a little more... I dunno, just plain f@#$ed up. A bit darker and more brutal.

reply

They are both excellent 70's political thrillers, but IMO, "Condor" is the superior film, just for Dave Grusin's soundtrack alone. The gun-handling is very good as well.

reply

Agreed, the soundtrack is pure ear candy!

reply

Parallax View hands down, but this is not a bad movie, and Sydney Pollack does has a lot of great things going on, but Parallax View gives me nightmares, in a fun way, and how many non horror movies can do that?

reply

Parallax View is the better film in terms of generating a response, but how much better would it have been if, instead of Frady, they had Redford's Turner?

While Beatty was good, he is just too aloof. Redford is more sympathetic.

That was the only thing I felt missing from Parallex, a sympathetic hero.

Redford is a great actor.

reply

i'd have to put the two movies on about equal footing.i'll agree Redford is more sympathetic here,as he should be(many of his personal co-workers/friends are murdered).Beatty is a reporter, and as such takes a more just-the-facts approach.i also agree with your last statement, but believe Redford is likely(much like Clint Eastwood for example)to be remembered as a director and his acting ability almost forgotten.

reply

Clint Eastwood and his acting ability? I never thought such thing existed.

The films he directed are cool, though.
