Did your parents let you see this?

Mine sure didn't until I was old enough. It's traditionally rated 15 in my country, but now 7+ on Amazon Prime and 12 on the other streaming service. When I was little, my mum told me it was one of the scariest movies she had ever seen and compared it to The Exorcist. She said she had nightmares from the opening sequence.

Since it's PG in the U.S., then technically any child would be allowed to see it.

reply

It’s PG, an 8 year old should be able to handle it.

reply

PG, yes, but this was before PG-13 had been created and I believe that the Jaws theatrical poster had a warning text next to the rating that read ...may be too intense for younger children.

reply

Yes seeing a man spit up blood while being eaten may be too intense for a 7 year old. Just like watching a man get his heart ripped out then lowered into molten lava.

reply

In 1975, I was 24 years old. My parents were both deceased.

reply

I still haven't seen it

reply

The original isn’t that great but you really need to see the sequels, especially 3 and 4 they are classic cinema.

reply

Jaws 4 is my favorite because the shark roars. Plus the shark in this movie is the most intelligent shark because it knew to follow Mrs Brody to the Bahamas to seek its revenge

reply

I agree, and I like the fact that this time it was personal.

reply

Yes my parents let me see it. I was 7.

reply

Yes, when I was 9, the entire family went and saw this and the next day, we all headed to Clearwater Florida and when we arrived, no one was in the water
