The original cast took skits to an art form. Second to me are the two casts from the late 80's to the mid 90's.

1985 to 2000ish

I remember not watching SNL very much from 1980-1988. Then, in 1989 SNL was celebrating its 15th anniversary and the show was outstanding. Others(Jim Downey) have also said 1989 was SNL's best season.

I was stationed in South Korea the military channel would show the newest episode on Sunday Night, then replay it the next Saturday Night what a special treat.

Seasons with the original cast were the best. Every single member was great. Shocking, funny and provocative.

The second best was when Bill Murray joined replacing Chevy Chase.

I am one of the few on Earth that has seen every episode of Saturday Night Live.

Every season had gems scattered about, every season has had turdball sketches scattered about, even the original cast.

It’s been a fun show for half a century and I look forward to more.
