I’m going to go with 2016 when Chris Hemsworth did the skit in drag.

The Will Ferrell theater kids sketch was pretty good. I think that was a year or two ago.

1980. When the original cast left. After that, in general not worth watching.

I liked the Oscar the Grouch spoof trailer they did similar to Joker. I'd say that was actually funny.

It's not always funny 100% of the time (live skits by their very nature are going to be hit & miss)....but it's always entertaining (IMO).
And once it's gone, there will never be a tradition like it on TV again.
