Wondered why people didn't like it...then got half way in

I watched this for the 1st time last night and started wondering, why do people hate this movie, the music was great, interesting story. Then I got to be point where Bond visits HI FAT and it was like I was watching a totally different movie, the ninja girls, bond giving a sumo wrestler a wedgie, the 3rd nipple and the redneck Sheriff. It's almost like Die Another Day, which started off like a good interesting Bond movie and just suddenly turned into something else.

Uh- you need to get out more. There are more Bond films out there than just this one. Yup.

TMWTGG film suffers from the same thing as all of the Roger Moore Era films- Moore's interpretation of Bond. As The Saint he's awesome, and even as the British cousin in "Maverick" he was fine. I'm a fan of Moore, but it seems the writers decided a clown was what they had and was how they'd support this particular actor's "way".

The 3rd nipple is from the Fleming book, the other stuff's too stupid to go over again. Of course, that isn't necessarily saying much- it's not the best Felming Bond book, though Scaramanga in the book is more of a nasty villain instead of a vampire actor's take on himself. The southern cop- a hold over from Moore's first- "Live and Let Die" was at the least, more appropriate in L&LD.

Still- even within the Moore era films there are pluses and negatives. If I had an afternoon where DAD was on or any of the Moore's- I'd pop for the Moore flic.

Of course- what do I know? I think "Moonraker" is vastly more salvageable than this rot if re-edited.

I love this movie. Christopher Lee is an excellent villain. Roger Moore is not perfect but a great Bond. The fights are excellent. I like seeing the little guy from Fantasy Island. It is an excellent movie
