It's available for download from various legitimate sources... key word "legitimate." Another key word: "not for free!"
"It's people..."
you can get it cheap from [email protected]. It is in the public domain as of this writing.
shareNo, it's not in the public domain! Shout! Factory owns the rights.
"It's people..."
It is being re-released to video this coming April 2011. All the usual online sellers will have it.
BTW to answer the question... *I* saw it May 17, 1974 at Tony's Cinema, Summit Ave, Union City, New Jersey when I was twelve and a half. Saw it two more times the next week. Also a few times on TV in the 1980s, and about 100-150 times since getting the 2005 DVD. :)
Funny how the fashions are all back in style.
shareOriginally in '74 at the Southgate General Cinema, Maple Heights Ohio. It is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
shareI was 14 in '74, and saw it in its proper setting---at the drive-in.
shareI too saw it in a Drive-In!!!!! In Reno, NV at the El Rancho Drive-In. It's still there!!! Opens in the Summer. It's a weekend flea market whenever the weather is good.
It might be the only Drive-In in the state of Nevada. I don't care enough about Lost Wages to care if they have one down there or not. We still do!!!

Are you better off now than you were $5 Trillion $DOLLARS$ ago?!?!?!?
Saw it at a theater on Long Island with my parents, I was quite young I believe it was Rated R, which was a big deal...LOL.
shareI too saw it at the drive-in. The final scene played and you could hear nearly everyone saying "No sh-t, no fu--ing sh-t!"
shareWhen I saw it I was 4. Saw it at the King Center Drive-in with my parents.. here in Houston TX.
shareI also happened to catch it on Encore this morning. DVR'd it!
shareOriginally in the theater, 1974. But just watched it moments ago on Xfinity and still love it!
