Did Mongo really punch the horse?

I watch that scene over and over and wonder how they did it since it looks pretty real. Did he really punch the horse?

No, if you watch carefully, you can see the man on the horse pulling the reins, timed perfectly so that the horse swings its head around with the punch. But no contact between fist and horse was made.

And that's the way it was...

That's what I thought. It was well timed. Still one of my favorite scenes, but I hesitated to say it because it would sound like I support animal cruelty.

Yesssssssssssssssssss! And Luke really did blow up the Death Star, and Dwarves are really taller than Hobbits, and Klingon females are really THAT hot!

reply

Yes, but the horse swung first!

reply

Yes, but the horse swung first!

Only on the re-released footage. Originally, Mongo punched first.

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

reply

Do you really mean that Luke didn't blow up the Death Star after all?

Life is not worth living anymore ... good bye cruel world! 😢

No no no.....he DID blow it up. The thing that should upset you though was the Death Star explosion in Jedi. Think of all those innocent contractors killed during the rebel attack. They had no beef and were only working for the government likely with a juicy contract. Then some leftist fanatics come in and blow the place to hell.

Just had to comment about your quote at the bottom. I'd not seen or heard that specifically before. Quite hypocritical, isn't it?

reply

No, it was on blocks so it would fall down. Alex faked the punch.

reply

He also overturns a horse during the brawl, but you can see it is fake.

reply

The rider on the horse moves the rein, and the horse is specially trained to fall over just like that.

reply

Yes he did.
It was allowed back then.🐎

reply

No. He didn't.

You can see the rider pull the reigns just before Mungo "punches" the horse.
