Michael Evans - TV's biggest racist.

This kid HATED white people Didn't want to go to their schools, take their IQ tests, wanted to worship a black Jesus...and the family respected this and thought it was funny? Archie Bunker, who everyone refers to as the worst bigot, had nothing on this kid. Everyone around Archie hates the way he thinks, but the Evans family encourages Michael's bigotry. Not very funny. "Clean towels? For a WHITE WOMAN?"

And it is a fact that Micheal Evans and Archie Bunker lived in the same fictional universe; Micheal's mother, Florida, used to work as a maid for Maude, who was Edith Bunker's cousin (and Maude absolutely despised Archie!).

reply

Right on brother! They were all supporting Michaels hatred of the White man!

Michael found out he had a white tinkle between his legs!!!

When I first read this title, right away, I thought it was about Mike Evans- the co creator/writer of Good Times who played Lionel Jefferson on All In The Family and The Jeffersons... 

reply

And he was an atheist. But he's not a person or even a sloth.

It was the era. It's supposed to wrong for whites to have racial pride and okay for people of color to be racist. Many then still felt oppressed and rightfully so.
Michael was over the top but he and George Jefferson were the answer to Archie Bunker and others like him. I don't believe any of those three actually hated and would harm others. these were all meant to be only TV exaggeration so it was okay to laught at or even with them.
Michael bothered me most because he was a child. The future was supposed to be better so the up and comers should be better taught. One isn't born with hate but often taught. James & Florida weren't as bad as Michael. They though should have been diligent with knowing his influences. She made certain to intervene when Carl came into the picture and the subject was religion.

Michael dropped the anti-White character when he grew up. I am wrapping up viewing this entire series, only 6 episodes left to view in the final season and I don't recall Michael using any anti-White comments the last couple of years. It was annoying when he would shout out offensive remarks and the parents would turn a blind eye. The first year he was at his worst.

reply

He did. He almost had a caucasian roommate. She was a nice girl. Her parents were shown as idiots. Florida objected because the roommate was female.

reply

Another "White people are the victims of racism" post. Michael was a kid born in the 60's and raised in the 70's. He was reacting to the times. REACTING to racism does not make one a racists. I suppose you expect him to "Turn the other" like a good negroe, huh? Just ignore the whole racist attitude of white America.

reply

If Michael Evans (the character not the creator/actor) was around today, he'd probably be shooting at cops.
