Elaine should have been sparred!

Hey everyone I just wanted to write a message on why I loved this film and the first one. Also just wanted to ask your opinions on a scene in the movie.

First off I remember watching Blackula when I was a little kid on old WOR channel nine. Every day around four o clock they would play old low budget horror movies. Why they would play horror movies at that time have no idea-probably because they knew kids would be coming home from school and tune in just like your wonderful writer! Ahh can remember watching classics like Shock Waves, Beware the Blob-100 times better then first, Monster Club, Crowhaven Farm, Deathmaster. Yeah fun times hell these films beat out out any of the so called new scary horror of today. I rarely ever see any good horror quality today all just the usual slasher or demon spirits cliches just to make money! Look at films like Lets scare Jessica to Death or Alice Sweet Alice man those movies creep me out today for crying out loud!

So yeah when I was older and saw Blackula I still enjoyed it. You have to admit for being low budget not having a lot to work with it was done well. The scary scenes were well scary! When I was a kid the scene that gave me the willies was when Mama attacked that girl in her apartment doing the pictures. I really liked the story to of how Mama came to visit Dracula in ending the slave trade. The way the two interacted really grabbed me. Thumbs up for the actor who played Dracula he had it down pat. William Marshall was great to could tell he took the role seriously. To bad the rest of the film wasn't that great. The whole black exploitation deal I never cared for. Would never see that today. It's one thing to try and take races culture style and get it through in a film but they went way over the line in these films just total stereotypes. The same way they portrayed the gays not for me.

I never knew there was a sequel to Blackula until a few years ago don't even know how I found out about it. I got it of Ebay and check it out. For a sequel wasn't that bad had some moments didn't try and be exactly like the first, I liked the whole voodoo deal. Plus there was some great laughs in it to I loved Willis he was the man hell wish he wouldn't have gotten bit. When he was going with Mama about his face, "do I look good man". He was turned into a vampire and Willis is chilling with him. Mama you sourpuss you could have left him go to the party! He said he was going to be back. Most of the other characters really didn't have much personality or depth to them.

Here's the question that needs to be addressed now! Why did Elaine have to go! She was to damn beautiful to become a ugly monster. Man that dress she had on whoo very classy elegant lady. Hell with taking her to a spooky house would keep her in the house for fear of every guy trying to take her from me! She really should have escaped got through the door at the last minute and jet. Go to the party and tell everyone what happened and no one believes her until when more people start missing attacks at night realize she was telling the truth. Hell she even goes to fight at the end to avenge her boyfriends death yeah Elaine kick Mamas ass hell wear your sexy dress that will distract the other male vampires, well that might distract the good guys to! When your done kicking black vampire butt get your butt over to my place cooking you some slammin grub lady!

One thing I wanted to ask about Louis and Elaine scene why did it take so long for Mama to attack? My guess is when he saw the car pulling up he figured I'll wait and see if they come in and get far enough away from the door there mine. If he would have tried to attack them right at the door they could have escaped and took off-don't think old Mama could drive! Mama was watching way high top of the stairs to see if they would wander around. I think if they would have just left at the front door they would have been okay. Honestly if I were were Louis I would have knocked a few times yelled if the door was open just stick my head in yell that's it were going. I wouldn't want to roam around someones else'is home that a friend was sitting for. You could tell they were weird about it. What the hell was Willis doing all that time? He didn't come out until after Louis was bitten maybe he was sleeping or smoking some good reef. Maybe once they were past the door Willis sunk out and locked it. Poor Elaine she should have just got something vase chair and smashed a window got to the car and haul ass! That's what I would have done. If Mama really wanted to get them he could have just told Willis to yell at one of the windows "hey guys come on up got some killer bud we can smoke before we hit the party". So much for the party!

Anyway that's about it hope you liked my message just having some fun. Anyone who wants to reply please do so any comments are good with me as long as there in good nature nothing mean or insulting won't deal with that. Yeah the Blackulas were interesting for their time low budget fun horror. The stuff you could get away with back then maybe the 70s weren't all cool and hip as people say they were. If I were black or gay back then probably wouldn't have been to thrilled seeing things like that. Oh well life goes on see you soon Elaine got your dinner almost finished! Don't worry no one will attack you at my place any vampires around got the stake, cross and garlic-hell can use it for veal marsala to! Peace

Hey Mill how are you? I see you replied to my old message on Scream Blackula Scream. I was the original writer on that. I'm glad they made this site and see my old messages from years ago. I just liked having fun telling what Il liked or dislike about a movie or tv show. Throw in some jokes fun stuff nothing heavy.

Just curious all you said in reply to my message was "no" that's it nothing more. Did you read the message? Liked it didn't? I'm always curious when someone replies back to one hell you can say you loved it or hate it. It's all in fun. Please if you get a chance read again and let me know what you think. I just read again I think I made good points on what was good, bad with the movie. The whole thing with Elaine was fun few laughs. Got to admit she was a classy likeable lady. That was one of my favorite parts of the movie creepy and suspenseful. I liked both them actually, wished they would have escaped.

Anyway nice meeting you mill check out some of my older messages on here. I'll write some new ones when i get a chance-work sucks! I'll check out some of your messages. Always cool chatting with good people. Take care peace

Mama and Willis waited in the house for dramatic effect in the movie. Its scarier to have them walk around first with it all quiet and dark before they attack. Also a better title of the movie would have been The Curse of Blacula. And lastly, it would have been a more effective ending if his curse was removed and free from being a vampire. The original had a unique ending for a vampire film with Blacula giving himself up to the sunlight, which I assume was a metaphor for the black civil rights non violent movement from the 60s

Hey Mill how are you? Thanks for the reply. You have a nice holiday? Mine was quiet. Just did some volunteer work help the less fortunate out. My family live far away rough to just go for one day So it was good.

Anyway yeah about what you said about it was more scary to have mamma and Willis waiting for them to strike . Totally agree. One of the more scarier scenes of the movie. The rest really wasn't that suspenseful. Still a good movie but so much came off as boring bland in parts. Some great humor though Willis stole the how . The first one had more scarier scenes and better story.

So do you think if Lewis and Elaine would have just knocked on the door a few times and then left, or maybe just pooped in the front door for a minute yelled then just left. wonder if they would have made it. Think once they went farther from the entrance their chances went down. Ha didn't feel just little bad for our Ell? She was a sweetheart. Would have liked to know a little more about her. Lewis was cool to Hell she got so worked up just passed out. That probably saved her feeling get bitten, What kind of friend was Willis! They come to pick him up and he turns them into the undead-I can't see my face!

Hey just real quick here. In the first Blackula. the beginning when Mamma met the count, why was he cool to him and his wife.? Dracula had him dine with his guests. I wonder if the subject of the slave trade hadn't been brought up maybe old Drac might have let them go. I thought when he saw that mamma was a educated, cultured individual he was very impressed and let him stay join his guests. Once the issue of slavery comes up they argue get upset, then mamma insults him the count is like "okay you're not going anywhere! I would have liked the scene to go back further like mamma arriving at the castle and hanging out with Drac and his guests.

Hey glad you wrote back Mil have a nice holiday and watch some good movies. movie72fan
