I watch a lot of film, and will watch any and all. My own personal rule is that I don't walk out or turn off a film. The director intended something, and I will give it my full attention, open minded until the end, This is easier said than done with some films, some old, some new, with little relation to the "quality" of the film. For example, with Sharknado you can sit and watch it like eating a bag of potato chips, knowing full well that it's crap. My wife, said the first Star Trek film was like driving through a long tunnel in a golf cart, on acid watching paint dry. I can see that.
Point? This film requires your patience and attention. I will agree that the pacing is slow, it;s hard to argue that. But, I don't find that to be a fault. rather it's one of it's virtues. It has gorgeous cinematography, and can be extremely subtle (at times) with everything else. It reminds me of Cormac McCarthey's book, Blood Meridian, with the epic descriptions of the West that seem to sprawl on forever and can seem repetitious. When you get done reading it, you realize that the writing itself embodies the vastness of the open plains and deserts and when you look back and realize that quality of the writing, it's just beautiful.
