Blu Ray

Has anyone heard of a blu ray version?

reply

Well I know a blu-ray version is out, but maybe that is just UK?

Yes, it`s released in the UK. I have it. I think it looks pretty good compared to the DVD, but the most disappointing thing for me is the over use of DNR resulting in lack of details.

Hardly any film grain is left intact, save for a few shots. Some may think they see a lot of grain on this Blu-ray release, but it`s just unwanted noise artifacts that people may think look like grain. So, it could have been improved if they didn`t use so much DNR and would have looked sharper and more detailed. So, despite the DNR, it`s still the best it has looked and sounded on home video.

1 positive thing, is that i was very impressed with the audio quality of the Dual Mono audio track in LPCM 2.0. I think the dialog and the beautiful music from Pino Donaggio sounded great.

Look at this DVD and Blu-ray comparison: http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleiche/comparison.php?art=full&; cap1=2430&cap2=2420&cID=601&lossless=1&image=0#auswahl

i concur with the above poster. I'm watching my UK blu ray now. The movie looks very good, but DNR is VERY apparent, with some of the buildings and faces getting it worst. However, i recommend this release and the image is sharp, colours are excellent, and the extras and sound is top notch

does the blu-ray make the film look like it was shot on video?

She gave me a smile so sweet you could have poured it on your pancakes.

I have the Blu Ray and it looks and sounds great to me. The sound design in this movie is fantastic.

The old blu-ray is terrible. The Criterion was a serious improvement, but now we have the 4K UHD which is phenomenal, and the UK version comes with a blu-ray from the same master which also looks great.

Buy the 4K disc without hesitation.
