Man, if Barnaby Jones would have stepped up to me for committing my crimes I'd just pop the old dude square in the mouth. You know he'd have gone down like the Hindenburg. Just a quick jab to the face.

The same with Broderick Crawford.

Simple. Assaulting an officer of the law can carry a stiff penalty

Barnaby wasn't an officer of the law. He was a PI.

The name Broderick Crawford confused me, because his character was a police officer. But, yes, you were right, Barnaby was a P.I.

I got you, but I think Broderick (or his character) could kick ass even in his later years!
