Lucio Fulci?!

Lucio Fulci directed this movie? How did THAT happen? What producer in their right mind would watch "Don't Torture a Duckling" and decide that the guy who directed that would be good for a family film?

reply

I don’t know and I haven’t seen it yet, but i see there is one VHS copy on EBay. With Fulci and Nero it’s got to be good.

Edit:
I went ahead and ordered it. 😄

And what did you think? I just watched, and a Fulci film it is not, haha.

reply

I did enjoy it but I think I liked Challenge to White Fang (1974) a little more. It had the same cast of characters but seemed a little more Fulci like. There were several murders including a person being burned alive.

Watching that next! Both up on YouTube.

Let me know what you think of it. It certainly has a different tone.

reply

Well, I didn't love it, haha, but it was definitely a bit darker. Couldn't believe they fucking kill off the main kid from the first in the opening scene! Jeez.

“Well, I didn't love it”

I know what you mean. I own them both because I’m trying to get all of Fulci’s films.

reply

What are you missing? I'm working my way through his lesser-known films now, and wishing I saved some of the bigger names (which happen to be far superior so far) 'til the end.

reply

Here is a pic of what I have for Fulci so far, of course I’ve seen many more than I own. I haven’t seen any of Fulci’s early comedy films. I would say my favorites so far are Don’t Torture a Duckling, the Psychic, Zombie and The Beyond. I tend to buy lots of Italian genre film DVDs from many directors.

Nice. Of those, still haven't gotten to Aenigma or Zombi 3, on my short-list.

reply

If I remember correctly, Zombie 3 was started by Fulci and finished by Bruno Mattei. It definitely has that Mattei “so bad it’s good” flavor, so it probably belongs in his filmography. 😀
