A creepy thing you missed - a survivor

At the end in the engine room they crawl up and then up again because the flames are blocking their way. The old Jew has just left his dead fat-wife and is seen following them up in the next scene. Right behind him we see a hurt man move his arm up to his face. It's not a small movement, and it seems like he is wiping his face.

So, that man must not have been able to either hear them or contact them. If he is hearing them it must be hell not being able to even speak and tell them to take you with them! If he can't hear them he must have lost his hearing. He can only move his arms and head and has broken his spine either way. It could also be that he has just awaken by their noise... but why does he not follow them then up then or scream?

At the end the helicopter rescuers ask them if there are any other survivors. And they tell him there are no other men down there. Then we see the helicopter fly away. Was that the only helicopter? If no, then why didn't they check everything before it is to late? If they weren't there the rescuers would go down to look for survivors and would have found him. Were there responsible for his death? IRL the rescuers would off cause search everything. But in this movie we don't know how they do these things. Creepy either way.

Here is the video of it. Watch it before youtube removes it. I already got 2 warnings for it:

I doubt they'd go into the ship. Too risky.

I'll have to see about the Survivor. I never noticed it before.

reply

You don't know about the sequel, do you?

reply

I've seen this movie dozens and doxens of times and never noticed that dude. But you are 100% correct. A "dead" extra moves his arm!

reply

It happens. In the movie Airspeed, an "unconscious" victim lifts his arm so the girl on the plane can buckle his seat belt.

The old Jew has just left his dead fat-wife

Stopped reading at that part.

reply

Have you seen the movie? They call her "fat" all the way through. And Jews were also called Jews. I have nothing against them.

reply

Same here. Not by their names Manny and Belle but 'old Jew and dead fat-wife'. That says an awful lot.

Moral superiority successfully signaled. You are certified on the right side of history.

That scene has always been listed as a blooper, along with the scuba diver in the background while Mrs Rosen saves the preacher.

-In my mind, Christopher Reeve will always be Superman.-

reply

Not a survivor.

That’s just a case of an extra moving his arm when he wasn’t supposed to.

Director probably didn’t notice it until later while reviewing dailies and it wasn’t worth reshooting.

I’m also betting no one watching in the theater noticed it.

reply

If we take the sequel into consideration then maybe the extra was one of those characters
