A laugh fest (spoilers)

This movie is just for laughs. None of the characters has any redeeming value. Gene Hackman could not wait to get out of there and take advantage of his opportunities from winning the Oscar for the French Connection. Shelly Winters (a beached whale) and Red Buttons seemed to be giving a master class in Yiddish Theater. As usual, Shelly gave one of her over the top performances a perfect companion to Ernest Borgnine's one-note over and over again (now I'm really pissed off!). Maybe I missed it, but was there even one black face in this movie? What a throw back to Hollywood's good old days.

Well, I'm definitely not one who reveres old movies, but I I have to strongly disagree with you. I thought the acting was just fine.
