shareMy favourite episode is The Typewriter.
shareMaybe. I liked the early interaction between Grandma and John-Boy when she brings him the envelope (but having her talking about ghost and witch stories is out of character).
But there's no way the ribbon would have been still good in that typewriter, and having gotten it back, don't you think John-Boy's first move would have been to have returned it to the Baldwins? Instead, he carried it upstairs with him. Actually, since the sheriff was the one who found it he should have returned it to the Baldwins.
well, it did occur to me that the whole drama could have been avoided in the first place if John-boy had just written his story at the baldwins instead of taking the typewriter home. if i had a typewriter. I was attached to like the. Baldwins are to that one, that's what. I would have suggested.
shareTwo-parter The Conflict. Good guest performances, especially by classic actress Beulah Bondi who added depth and gravitas to the episode. Nice photography in real mountain country and realism in the conflict over violence between John Boy and Grandpa. Touching final shot and narration concering a certain heirloom inherited from Bondi...
shareThe one where Mary Ellen finds that Curt is still alive ;-)
shareI have so many!
Mary Ellen's wedding and the birth of John Curtis.
Day of Infamy (the Pearl Harbor episode).
The episode where the Baldwins want to adopt Jason and Livvy is furious that he helped them make the recipe.
Grandpa's heart attack.
The secret room at the Baldwins' house filled with jars of recipe.
When Ashley Longworth Jr. shows up and we at last learn the fate of his father.
Ben and Cindy's elopement
The Burnout. I was 12 or 13 when it aired and it scared me. I had nightmares that my house would burn down and my parents would send my brothers and I to live with someone else. But even though it scared me I've always loved the episode.
Grandma comes home is another favorite of mine.

For some reason I really like the episode where they hold John's high school reunion at the Walton house. The classmate with the unruly kids is so funny, and I like how they all sing Til We Meet Again at the end.
I also love the episode where Ashley Longworth Jr. brings the letter to Miss Emily from his father. I cry like a baby, but it's so nice to know that she wasn't crazy for thinking Ashley Sr. had some feeling for her.
