Either 'Grandma Comes Home' in season 6 or 'The Pony Cart' in season 5

But I could list about 20 or 25 that are among my favorites. However, the two I mentioned above are definitely my very favorites.

cindy is so beautiful in that one.clearly the most attractive of the walton family.grandma comes home and pony cart are also great choices.

reply

THE PONY CART, with Miss Beulah Bondi as Cousin Martha Corinne.

I do hope he won't upset Henry...

The Pony Cart and The Cloudburst (love the bittersweet endings in both of these - good episodes to show to people who think The Waltons is sappy and corny).

PROPHECY
Always liked this episode of the Waltons and Grover's (Ray) after dinner monologue in particular praising John Walton. Sorry James Ray died so young. May he rest in peace.

Excellent choice. One of my favorite episodes as well, maybe my most favorite. The writing in that episode is excellent. Some of the best dialogue I've heard in any TV program ever.

"The Burn Out" a two hour continued episode where the house catches fire. The acting in this was top rate. As a young teenager the episode riveted me and it still does now that I'm in my mid 50's. The one drawback to this was toward the end of the 2nd hour when everything seemed to be back to normal. The damage shown at the beginning was so extensive even my childlike mind couldn't accept everything was ok by the next show. Anyone living through a real fire of that extent knows better.

I also like "The Burn Out", but who in their right minds would go walking through a burned out house that is probably still hot with bare feet?

I am not an Elizabeth fan, and found her particularly repulsive in this episode. I did think the fire was realistic, except for the fact that (a) if the dress were so important to Erin that would have been the first thing she grabbed, and (b) John-Boy seemed to have been leaving without his manuscript anyway. It didn't appear that Erin had anything to do with his losing it.

Hard to pick just one, but several of my favorites I can name off the bat are
The Marathon (John Boy meets Daisy Garner), The Firestorm (John Boy ruffles some feathers when he plans to publish excerpts from Mein Kampf), and The Lie (I really thought John was going to beat the crap out of Ben).

Ben needed the crap beat out of him.

I've always liked The First Day and the two-parter with the house fire.

Without a doubt, and think about this folks, it has to be "The Return". That moment when John Boy sneaks up on Olivia and she turns around, seeing him. She's gardening.. Priceless moment! You can't help but start to tear up right there. But, nope! Of course there's so much more coming along. Won't ruin it for ya if you haven't seen this one yet. But, it's a two part'r, has a mine, and a really dramatic moment involving the mine's horn... (I can't believe so many of you forgot this one~)
