You think their marriage survived ??

things certainly changed during this movie

No. It's over. In the quiet in the end of the din he'll put it all together & she will come forth in confession...

I let them pop my balloon knot.
I wanted you dead.
I changed your computations.
I stuck the gum on the black board. It was me.

No way their marriage survived. Dr. Sumner had a "Francis Macomber" moment. He is gone.

Hell no.

“Do as I tell you or I’ll break your neck.”

What kind of idiot husband says that to his wife while murderers are breaking into the house while the husband is protecting a murderer.

Their marriage fell apart the day after the movie ended.

Henry wasn't a murderer, since he accidentally killed Janice; and David (Hoffman) wasn't aware of what happened to Janice, neither were the crazed guys attacking his abode. The latter didn't know where Janice was and were just assuming Henry did something negative. So David was simply protecting a wounded mentally challenged man from a mob of violent locals who were trying to break into his abode.

It's definitely over.

i would think so

Also, the wife won't think of his as hero here?

This movie in some ways with the home invasion id almost like if "Die Hard" or a "James Bond" film was much darker and not just about a hero battling villains.

Also, even if didn't, SHOULD it have survived? Couldn't David also be seen as a hero during the whole house siege part? Or was it also because of Amy's experiences and his neglect of her that their marriage was now under threat of being over?

reply

It’s a great question. I doubt they’d stay together after the ordeal, they’ve unearthed dark aspects of themselves and are different people now, plus they were never a good match to begin with.

Such a dark, nasty, cynical film.
