slow as f@ck. it dragged pointlessly until the end . only start and the end means something otherwise it was boring in the middle. this 70's 'save the planet' crap is so boring , u wanna punch that retarded looking Lowell . geez man, classic my ass.
I don't know if you've ever heard of any of these people, but they have had some thoughtful things to say about whether the purpose of art is to deliver messages, to make you "think about stuff." Considering their accomplishments and generally acknowledged expertise and wisdom, it's hard to dismiss them:
Great art is not about ideas, but beauty.
Terry Teachout
An artist should have no purpose in mind other than just his art. His mission is not to clean the stables; he had better join the Salvation Army if he wants to do that.
Willa Cather
I never meant to deny the moral impact of art, which is certainly inherent in every genuine work of art. What I do deny, and am prepared to fight to the last drop of my ink, is the deliberate moralizing which to me kills every vestige of art in a work however skillfully written.
Vladimir Nabokov
I never saw a good ballet that made me think.
Arlene Croce
If there is any test that can be applied to movies, it's that the good ones never make you feel virtuous.
Pauline Kael
Content has no place in the house of cinema.
Martin Scorsese
The subject of a work of art has of course nothing to do with its beauty.
Oscar Wilde
Movies possess unlimited power to entertain. They have, however, no power whatever to teach.
The problem with the movie is for the most part the pacing. It wasn't a problem in the early 70's when it was made. I remember watching it back then and wasn't bored silly... however times have changed and people have been conditioned by faster paced shows and a large increase in the edits per minute to the point that the movie is very dated in that respect. I tried to rewatch it about 5 months ago with my kid that had never watched it... and they found it very boring... I was so bored that I stopped and did something else while they finished it. It was a movie I should have never rewatched because my memories of it when I first saw were better than rewatching it and just being bored silly by the slow pacing.
looked at your profile. A lot of negativity. Don't know why you are so angry at the world, but bad-mouthing movies on a faceless discussion board is not the answer. get some help.
What a slow ass movie! My god. It's like the movie was trying to SAY something to me, rather than simply let my mind shut down and watch pretty lights and explosions. Dagnabbit! When I watch a movie, it is ALL about the payoff at the end. I don't care about the "journey" getting there. I care about the destination!
It's like sitting through "The Godfather" with all their talking and communicating and dealings. Where the hell is the Mafia in that? People get whacked in the mob, right? Three friggin' hours of practically nothing! Hah! and people call it a great movie just because these movies share ideas and talk and try to be all introspectivey.
I'd give anything for Maximus Primo or the Power Rangers to just show up and lay them all to waste. Then at least it would be worth watching! Sitting through movies like this is like going to school or something. Why would anyone want to go to a movie to think about stuff?
My "#3" key is broken so I'm putting one here so i can cut & paste with it.

Well, go watch the latest transformer's movie or fast and furious film. That might be more your speed.
If you were around in the 70s, saw the sheer abuse of industrial waste being just dumped into rivers and open land, and seeing all the people and animals and fish get sick and die, you'd have a different opinion.
I know. I was there. I saw it first hand. This film was a response to criminal practices by huge industrial corporations that made products that also broke down.
