...able to breathe to keep her alive for so many hours? I realize the husband conked her on the head, partially buried her, and that a pocket of air is shown around her face several times, but there'd have to be a path of air to the surface to keep her alive for half a day.
shareMythbusters absolutely proved there is plenty of air underground even for a person in a coffin. They only had to stop the test as the weight of the dirt was causing the coffin to collapse. Presumably she could be alive if the dirt wasn't heavy enough to crush her.
