One big drawback

One big part of the vampire legend is vampires can’t be out in the sunlight. Scars of Dracula has far too many scenes that are obviously shot during the day, but they don’t even appear to be day-for-night shots. I can’t stand most CGI, but this is one instance where I’d like to see those skies darkened a bit, particularly any scene in the woods. I like the movie a lot, but vampire movies need plenty of dark.

Scars of Dracula was a reboot to the series. In Stoker's book Dracula was able to go out in the day, he just wasn't as powerful as he was at night. Maybe that was part of it (Hammer were known to bend vampire lore to whatever they needed for the story they were telling at that moment, even between films within a shared continuity, e.g. (Horror of) Dracula/The Brides of Dracula).

Yea I know what you mean. A big reason why the movie Dracula vs Frankenstein worked so well was that their final fight in the woods was so dark, we hardly got to see it
