Disappointment

I love Al Pacino, but this film was quite a disappointment to me. I don't think his acting was all that it can be, and that the script and the film in general was not good at all. Everyone on this board seems to like it, but I can't see why? I guess it would have been better had I seen it during the time it was first released, in the late late 70's. Does someone agree with me, or is there something about this film that I am just not seeing?

I can't say I love this film because it's very difficult viewing most of the time, but I thought it captured the characters' torment and turmoil quite well. It has a documentary feel, which works in its favor most of the time, but at others, I think more of a traditional narrative would have helped. 7/10 stars from me.

Pacino said 7 minutes of this film got him a role in The Godfather, which changed his life. I presume it is his angry moments, which he does more realistically than anyone, I think. I was impressed by how mature an actor he was from the start of his career. I watched this mainly for the acting, and thought both the leads did a great job. The ending disappointed me as too vague, as if they didn't know how to end it... I wish one of them made a remark about moving to Ft. Wayne or to the country to try again, rather than say nothing, which was too timid.

LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!
