Favorite line?
When Harold comments on good Maude is with people she replies," They're my species."
shareWhen Harold comments on good Maude is with people she replies," They're my species."
shareWhen they are sitting on the pier and Maude throws the medallion into the water.
"So, I'll always know where it is."
Makes me cry every time...
One of my favorite lines is when the psychologist asks Harold if the staged suicides are for his mother's benefit - and Harold replies: I wouldn't say "benefit."
shareNot a "Line" exactly, but the monologue from the priest about Maude's "Saggy breasts and flabby buttocks" is a classic in itself.
shareWhen they are in the graveyard and Maude asks Harold what kind of flower he would like to be. "You see Harold, I think that too much of the world's sorrow comes from people who are this, yet allow themselves to be treated as that.
"Oh Blanche? You know we got rats in the cellar"
"Harold! That was your last date!"
shareEveryone has the right to make an ass out of themselves.
shareI love the Flower Scene line ("You see Harold, I think that too much of the world's sorrow comes from people who are this, yet allow themselves to be treated as that.")
Also, the exchange of "I like you, Maude." "Mmm, I like you Harold."
Still though, BEST moment for me in the film (best acting-wise anyway) is after the first date, the IMPROVISED break of fourth wall Bud Cort did. The little smile and nod... that little bit was some of the best acting I've ever seen. haha.

This is what I am talking about.
One I love. "Vice, virtue, it's best not to be too moral. You chest yourself out of too much life. Aim above morality."
And one I use frequently, "It has no nutritional value, but then again consistency is not really a human trait."
And on drivers licenses: "I don't have one, I don't believe in them."
"That's wonderful, Harold! No go and love some more."
shareAfter "shooting" himself: "Harold, PLEASE!" That cracks me up every time.
"I hit the *beep* brain!"
