I think you mean "animated" and not strickly "cartoon", in which case you forgot the neo-classic The Nightmare Before Christmas, which has a really good message for kids, even if it's not particularly Christmasy. And don't tell me it's got to be "classics", because you included a Veggie Tales show.
Here are my Top 5 Favorite Animated Christmas Specials
1. The Nightmare Before Christmas 2. Little Troll Prince 3. Santa Claus is Comin' to Town 4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas 5. A Charlie Brown Christmas

My favorites are my favorites. They are like my children in that I can't pick a favorite or rank them. I love them all as much as the others but for different reasons. All still touch my heart and make me laugh and smile.
* "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (When his heart grows. . . gets me every time . . . and his sweet dog is so cute.)
* "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" (Just so sweet and joyful and really clever the way it sensibly explains all of Santa's charactistics -- the red suit, the flying reindeer, etc. And Booger Meister is a hoot.)
* "Charlie Brown Christmas" (I love Chuck, especially when he picks the runt Christmas tree.)
* "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer" (Eat, Papa, eat! She thinks I'm CUUUUUUTE! Hermey and his blonde flip. Yukon throwing his pick up in the air, picking it up, then licking it. The way these three become a great team and good friends. Happy times!)
Aw, shoot. I think "Rudolph" might be my secret favorite. Shhhh! Don't tell nobody.
I have never, ever liked "Frosty, the Snowman". I've always thought it was just stupid. It drove me crazy that he hollared "Happy birthday!" every time somebody put that old silk hat on his nappy head. I think there's something wrong with me that I love the ones I listed above but absolutely hate "Frosty".
And I've never seen "Little Drummer Boy". I don't know why. I just got the Christmas Classics DVD set with "Rudolph", "SC Is Comin'...", "Little Drummer Boy", and -- ugh -- "Frosty" and "Frosty Returns", which is like Chlamydia Returns to me. Anybody wanna trade a "Frosty" DVD for "The Grinch" or "Charlie Brown"? I'll pay postage.
Anyhow, I'll watch it soon and maybe will edit this post to add the "Little Drummer Boy". A friend of mine, a tough NYC cop says it gets to him every time. We'll see. The others got me years ago, when I was a naive, impressionable little kid, before I became a cynical Scrooge.
Happy holidays, ever'body!
I'm the type of guy that says, "The puddin' is delicious." -- LL Cool J
Come on, come ON..... the scene with Karen crying over the melted Frosty?? That does nothing for any of your heart strings??? And how Santa explains the theory of, "magic Christmas Snow" as he's comforting her???
Maybe it was the age I was when I first saw this (heck, maybe that's it for all of us with these shows) but I still feel like I'm 5 everytime I watch that scene. I can't watch that show w/my husband around, I'll simply go to pieces, and he won't have a clue what to do about it (answer: just let it run its course!!).
BTW- I'm 37!!! LOL!!!
Oh yeh, and if the Grinch's growing heart gets to you, you're not a (complete!) Scrooge.
I agree with Kelly. I absolutely cannot stand the "Frosty" cartoon. I never understood the " Happy Birthday" cry and thought it was weird. You have to see ' Little Drummer Boy' It's one of the great Christmas cartoons.
Add to your list ( which I agree with completely) Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol and Muppet Christmas Carol ( which I know is not a cartoon, but is still good.
Everyone has listed many great titles but I remember more that I haven't seen listed here...
1) A Family Circus Christmas - the dead grandpa guiding one of the boys to the hall closet for the tree star was spooky and touching.
2) Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey
3) Also, a title I can't recall about a bear that went looking for Christmas so he ended up buying a train (or bus) ticket to a town named Christmas down south.
1) Santa Claus is comin' to town 2) The Year without a Santa 3) Rudolph's Shiny New Year 4) Jack Frost (the pardon-me-pete/january junction one) 5) Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July
