Concorde is the worst, but last time I caught it, as usual, knowing every stupid thing to be said or done, it watched like a strange all-star episode of The Love Boat or something.

Made it oddly more tolerable, but still not a fave.

Yes, Airport '79 (or Airport '80 as it's known here in Australia, due to release delay) is a bad film, but it's still one of my favourites. Was so happy to see George Kennedy in the pilot's seat. :)

You can see such information in the Connection section, somewhere under the Trivia section.

At the time, I was amused that "Airport 1975" came out in...October 1974.

Note that the original "Airport" wasn't really a disaster movie...only the bomber is killed , and the plane lands safely. (The stewardess is badly injured but will recover, we are sure.) Indeed, "Airport" was based on a bestseller by Arthur Hailey("Hotel") and was always considered more of a multi-character soap opera.

But in 1972, we got the first REAL disaster movie, and it was a doozie: "The Poseidon Adventure," in which the disaster DOES happen(tidal wave and ship flip); it happens early enough for the soap opera to disappear in favor of action, and various key characters die.

The Poseidon Adventure inspired Universal to convert "Airport" into SEVERAL disaster movies, and other disaster movies moved into the pipeline soon after Poseidon hit: Earthquake, The Towering Inferno, The Hindenberg, Avalanche, Meteor, Beyond the Poseidon Adventure, When Time Ran Out...
