The Hager Twins
Everybody I have spoken to about this show doesn't care for the Hager Brothers and I am not crazy about them either. Any fans of them here on this board? I don't remember them having much of a music career outside of Hee Haw.

shareI remember watching as a child in the 70's. I think the reasons they weren't liked as well as some of the other cast are they were perceived as hippies, with the long comb over hair. Remember this is just after the hippie, drugs, sex era of the sixties. The other singers on the show were traditional country singers. The twins would sing a lot of pop and newer country. The matching outfits probably didn't help.
Now way back then, there were rumors that the twins killed Stringbean. Sounds foolish. Looking back now and watching the shows they look corny, but seem like nice enough guys.

They weren't my favorites on the show but I think they had talent and seemed like great guys. Actually now that I go back and watch the reruns sometimes on RFD television, I like them more than I did back in the day. Nothing wrong with them at all but I guess there were other characters I just liked better.
shareThe Hager Twins certainly weren't at the forefront of country music, but I think they had an undeniable charm. Many members of this cast didn't have a career outside of "Hee Haw." I have "The Hagers" LP, and it is an interesting artifact. It comes as no surprise that they died within months of each other.
shareMeh. They were OK. Not anything special, but didn't have a problem with them. Supposedly, the Hagers were discovered by Buck Owens when they were working/performing at Disneyland. They were part comedians and part country artists. Seems like most of their musical performances on Hee Haw were cover songs...ie. songs of other artists. Watched more for the comedy (Hee Haw, not the Hagers...yes, I know the comedy was mostly corny) and the women in the cast than the country music. The Hagers had some of the most dated styles on Hee Haw...the bellbottom pants, not to mention that moppy hair. You could tell it was the 70s looking at the Hagers...well, along with Roy Clark's sideburns.
shareI remember they played twin aliens on a Bionic Woman episode. One of them gets beaned by a bionic-arm thrown lettuce (or cabbage).
