Marcia and Jan not wearing underwear

Upset about the fact that the series wouldn't include storylines about more real-life teen issues in later seasons, Maureen McCormick revealed in her memoir that she and Eve Plumb retaliated by not wearing bras and panties while filming some episodes.

One day, producer-director Lloyd Schwartz noticed while watching dailies and confronted them about it. From that point on, he would meet them on set before filming scenes and put his hand on their backs to make sure the young girls were wearing bras.

reply

And what would he do about the panties?

reply

Rub their butts no doubt.

reply

It's good to be the producer-director!

reply

Before me-too anyway.

reply

Oh the turmoil now! On the one hand they aren’t wearing bras and parties on a kids show. On the other hand a man (dum dah!) is touching their back to check!!

The internet would melt down. Back then the girls would be told to put some clothes on but can entertain the crew later.

reply

A man touched a girl's back? Oh, the humanity! She's traumatized for life!

I partially read Maureen's memoir a few years ago. You are right about the braless part. But I recall reading Maureen stating that she and Eve wore micro minis a few times, which exposed their undergarments.. Therefore, they were reprimanded.

reply

I imagine the editors all watching those scenes closely to see if any panties peeked out.

reply

Knowing guys, you know they had a field day.

reply

Gee?? I'm going to guess if Sherwood Schwartz were still alive and the #MeToo movement got a hold of this, they'd rake him over the coals for it, right?? 🙄 I'm actually jealous he got to do that quite frankly..

reply

It was Lloyd, his son not Sherwood who did the bra check. His daughter did cameos on the show as well. Her character dated Greg sometimes. She was in the episode, where Greg had to take Bobby on his date at the drive in.
