Let's catalog Marcia's sins

Marcia is the true villain of The Brady Bunch, though she tries to hide her dastardly deeds under a veneer of girl-next-door toothy good looks. Let's count the ways Marcia has sinned against the Brady universe:

1. Told Jan, "If boys don't find you attractive, don't blame me."
2. Dumped nerdy-but-nice Charlie for suave-but-shallow Doug Simpson (the "Big Man on Campus")

I'm sure there are dozens of insults targeted to Jan alone that we can come up with.

Boy, given all these sins, no wonder Jan ended up so rational and level headed by series end.

reply

It's simple.
Pretty girls get away with more than plain girls.

reply

Marcia's pretty but she ended up dating an average guy like Wally.

When she dated hot Warren Mulaney, she thought he was so so. Probably because he could compete with her in the looks department. So she dumped him.

assuming she would easily beat Molly Webber for Senior Banquet Night. "Close race???"

Taunting Bobby (along with Jan) in the Cinderella episode.

Giving Alice the cold shoulder for "squealing" when she left Alice's stereo on ALL NIGHT!!!

Being such a little priss when she couldn't play Priscilla.

Talking down to Cindy in EVERY scene they were in practically. I can't think of a scene where she wasn't condescending to her. I have an older sister who acts like that. Its annoying. "Cindy, go give Greg your secret money!" UGH! I did like when Cindy replied, "I LIKE my money!"

Being so clueless about Stanley Vogel and his interest in her. Talk about vain.

This is a fun thread. All the characters should get a catalog of their sins. Greg would take up a lot of pages.😂

Dumping poor Harvey Klinger. Yes, he was a nerd that liked bugs but for some strange reason Marcia fell for him and even went out of her way to collect insects just so she could get close to him. Hopefully he at least got to make-out with her before she kicked him to the curb!

Thinking she could write better than Shakespeare.

reply

Marcia's smashed nose, is a little dose of karma for her

she was always into her looks and had a date for every night with the week. i think Marcia was popular with the boys if you know what i mean. Which reminds me of this one episode where there is this nerdy girl in school and marcia takes pity on her and has to literally teach her how to dress stylish and how to have confidence in herself and make her looks a priority (can't remember if it was for a boy or not), but it backfires on marcia because the nerd ends up being super pretty and 'takes over the throne' so to speak.

Marcia was just a vain spoiled perfectionist who had to be the best at everything and get any guy she wanted and just had to rub it in everyone's faces.

The more personalities you have the less boring you are!

reply

The girl Molly was ungrateful after Marcia helped make her over. She really needed a personality make over. True Marcia could be a trip at times, but she got her come uppance a few times. Especially after she lost the Juliet role due to her rudeness.

reply

You could have filled the old Sears catalog with Marcia's sins.

reply

I'm still pissed that Marcia callously dumped poor Harvey Klinger.

reply

Why should Marcia be penalized for being blessed. She shouldn't have had to be less to help Jan's ego. She too was still a child so expected to be less than perfect at all times.

reply

Pronouncing "werewolves" and "squeal" and "well" wrong!

She probably didn't pay attention in school.

Oh Smokey, while I'm sure your heart is in the right place, you clearly don't have the temperament to discipline young girls!

reply

Either you are a Marcia harer or you are a perv.

Did Marcia wear white after Labor Day? Was that rule applicable in California in the '70s?
