who here prefers brady bunch over the partidge family
I do.
shareWell, check out the Partridge Family board for other people's comments.
All comments=my own opinion not reflecting my voluptous pinup profile girl, Courtney Thorne-Smith
Agree with much that was said here. The Partridge Family was intended to appeal to teenagers and their parents, but not really children. Shirley Jones was actually quite a big star, having won an Oscar in 1960. And she was a great singer, so that would draw the adults. And the music group angle would draw the teens.
But the show fell into a formula relatively quickly. Danny Bonaduce was the real star of the show and that was really a lot of responsibility to put on a little kid. The older two "kids" really were acting like teens when they were, in fact, in their 20's. Tracey and Christopher were non-existent. (It's kind of a pity because I get the impression that Brian Foster, if given half a chance, would have been a fairly decent child actor. )
As the series was based on the life of the Cowsills, it would have made more sense if there were equal character development for all the family members. I have seen a documentary on the Cowsills and it was fascinating-- very dark and not the stuff of a comedy.

Never say never...
I liked both shows before I was a teen but I prefer the Brady Bunch because you got to know all six kids in the partridge family you only got to know three of the kids.
shareI do. I Like the Partridge Family, but I love the Brady Bunch. On the Partridge Family, I can never remember the names of the two youngest kids.
Although, I had always wanted to two families to meet. I can see Greg trying to impress Laurie and Keith flirting with Marcia.
Danny luring Peter and Jan into whatever scheme he was working on at the moment.
And the two youngest kids playing with Bobby and Cindy.
Carol and Shirley discuss raising large families and swap recipes over coffee.
Peter, Bobby and Cindy could've teamed up with Dannie Partridge to figure out ways to get rid of Oliver and the PF's next door neighbor, little Ricky (think that was his name).
shareThe Brady Bunch was much warmer and had happy endings.
The Partridges were more snide, sarcastic and into controversy.
So it depends on which side you like more - kind of the difference between the '80s and '90s, lol.
Did Brian Forster who played Chris Patridge make a guest appearance on the Brady Bunch?
shareYes, he was in the episode where Cindy had to choose which parent to invite to the school play. He was one of the other children in the production.
