What a piece of crap

Probably one of the worst movies I've seen. It's a musical but there are other movies out there that aren't constantly inundated with inane song and dance that has jack to do with anything. These kind of movies remind me of the song and dance play from A Passage to India that the movie was implicitly lambasting. People randomly singing and dancing like fools is stupid, it always was, but to add insult to injury this movie actually won best picture. Probably the worst pick for Best Picture aside from The English Patient or No Country for Old Men.

The movie had completely unlikable characters. Isn't it just so convenient that EVERY single adult in England that is in charge of the welfare of children is either evil or cruel? Makes me wonder how that country didn't render itself extinct. Dodger was an annoying idiot, I was hoping he would be killed, but sadly it never happened. I also hoped Fagin would be killed or at least arrested, but that also didn't happen. On the contrary, the two idiots dance off into the sunset, kind of appropriate for this crapfest.

About the only compelling thing about this movie was Bill Sykes. The actor did a good job in making him a cold, loathsome sadist that got what was coming to him at the end. However that tiny sliver isn't enough to save this poor excuse for a movie. 1/10 stars, I would give it 0 if I could.

Best thing America is Home of the FREE and Home of the Brave. You're FREE to not watch it because others wete Brave enough to fight for that right. Lots of movies I've quit in the middle of, but I just leave it at I chose to not watch it all. If you watch the whole thing and hate it, that's what's sad.

GOD, WHAT UTTER CRAP. I'm old enough to have seen it back in the day and hated it then........ Life in those days in London was an utter horrorshow. Child abuse. Child selling. Filth and squalor all prettied up with occasional cuteness. (Child labor, to make the rich richer. Small boys were worked to death as chimney sweeps, forced to clean the chimneys NAKED often while the rich were gathered round their cozy fires. (and they all died young from cancer because of carcinogens)......and those dumb musical interludes! Hundreds of poncy dancing boys and girls Dancing! Prancing! Flitting about on tippy toe! Swishing and swirling and leaping about. All in a squalid Dickens dystopia, ankle deep in excrement on the streets. I don't know that I've ever seen so many closeups of such filthy, dirty faces - they got that part right.

What an idiot. It's one of the greatest musicals ever made if not thee greatest.

This film is actually the opposite of crap.

I agree. My biggest problem with this musical is that it’s way too happy-go-lucky and not dark and cruel enough. I sincerely believe Dickens would despise this adaptation.

Lol, you gotta love it when the “don’t like it don’t watch it” card is pulled out. One of the laziest, self-contradictory responses to criticism ever.

But what did you really think?
