Can't make a adult 'G' rated comedy anymore.

It requires a high degree of writing skill, great comedic timing and a good story.

Watching a hour of this today, just hit me how different adult comedy is today... mostly shock humor, mean spirited...quite a change.

I wonder what Neil Simon would say about it.

It's a generational thing. I remember when playwrights were considered legitimate source material when their plays were adapted into Hollywood movies back in the 70s and 80s. David Mamet is probably the last one to have his work make onto the big screen well into the 90s and 2000s, but now it's not considered prime real estate. If anything from the theater makes onto the big screen it's some lame musical directed by Baz Lurman with cutesy gay English actors and girls from Glee.

Kind of a de-evolution if you ask me, I guess Hollywood just looks at the numbers..the under 25 sees 5x the amount of movies as older adults.

Gleangarry, Glen Ross was another play to movie I enjoyed.

Good writing forces a person to pay attention, you don't want to miss a key line.

The OP is so right. Just watched it again and it is simply great writing the way Oscar conveys his feelings to Felix.
