Worst ending in the history of movies

They must have run out of money....all the great acting and viewer involvement up until that time....and then...Pffft!

David Chase must have channeled this Director for the Sopranos finale...

Pffft.

Isn't that what happens in war sometimes? First you're saying something to your buddy, and next thing you know.... Pffft!

Maybe that's why Lee Marvin, one of the few men in Hollywood (Oliver Stone is another) to have earned both a Purple Heart and an Oscar, came up with the idea.

I was left really pissed off at the end! What were they thinking surely it would of been better if they had a battle royale style fight to the death!
That would of been wicked cool.
As it is it just seems the film makers ran out of money, Any ending other than that bombing would of been a hell of alot more satisfying than that crap!

Dont get me wrong the film was great up until the last 30 seconds!
Any chance of a remake do you think, I know theres a few Commando comics and graphic novels based on this idea.

How would that have advanced and developed the movie's themes and concerns?

so how easy is it to sit through a movie without absorbing even an iota of its message?

'would of' = noooooo
'would have' = OK

English is not my first language (I'm brazilian), but boy, I do like to write correctly every other language I learn.

I thought the ending was realistic. Real war isn't like a Rambo movie. One second you're talking with your buddy, the next second you're being blown into a million bits by an artillery shell. I'm glad they did give it some sentimental Spielberg ending.

You think THIS ending is bad? Try watching "Limbo", with M.E.Mastrantonio and David Strathairn. I'm going along, watching a fairly interesting movie, which seems to be building to an ending that ties everything up ... and, all of a sudden ... The End! It left EVERYTHING hanging! It was like they started filming a movie, got 2/3 thru it, ran out of money and said "What the heck ... put "The End" up there and no one will ever notice! "Limbo" has got to be THE worst ending ever!

"so, what happened .. did your balls DROP OFF"? Heath Ledger, (R.I.P.)!

I just watched it like 5 minutes ago, not entirely paying attention, and when the explosion occured I first thought that Mifune set some kind of a sake explosives :). That was totally out of the blue.

Just finished watching and came to see if I was the only one hating the ending. Pretty good movie right until the ending which basically ruined the whole movie to me

i was surprised how slow going it was after seeing the cover, imagine how dull this would seem to the kids, and how do you figure out the plot without reading the cover, i got it on an old swedish vhs release, and on that version when they stand opposite each other at each of the screen, one of them doesn't show in the picture, also suddenly at one point has subtitles on the japanese, whos shorts look too modern. it takes so long before anyone speaks a word so its interesting to hear the first sentence, imagine this a radio drama, i always wonder how twilight zone radio would handle the episode "the invaders" where noone speaks until the end. this was among the strangest movies i've seen, no plot, no dialogue, two cast, and it looks like theyre at the same small shooting place all the time, how cheap was this movie to make. i kind of liked it later on as it went along, but very overlong at the first part of the movie, i was shocked that a review book i read gave it very high rating, and i agree about the disappointing ending, what was that... i don't even know what to say, you watch the over long adventure of these two people, wondering about the destination, and then an ending like that?
