Just watched part 1 of a Adam 12 episode about a gun runner. they bust him on weak evidence. Will it stick? We'll find out in part 2 of "The D.A." Oops, That's another show that's not being shown in syndication. Frustrating, isn't it?
Why are you being rude? I was just pointing out how frustrating it is because I didn't get to see Part 2 I was also doing it in a lighthearted way, did you notice the :oD? Geez!
I agree. Crossovers should be self contained; the Adam-12 guys making an appearance on Dragnet or Emergency, something like that. If it involves a completely separate series, like you describe, then the audience can be left hanging. What they should do is repackage the episode of the DA that concludes the story as an episode of Adam-12 and add it to the A12 syndication/DVD package.
Yes, I do find it frustrating. Especially when one is watching re-runs... even of prime time shows! I have been watching Adam 12 (recently-haven't seen it since I was a kid) on Hulu, which only has through season 4, but if Gun Runners is in season 4, I think I will skip it.
Thank goodness now when a show crosses over, (usually the CSI franchise) the DVD's make it a point to include the TV episodes that make up the whole crossover -- like when CSI crossed over to CSI Miami and CSI New York -- and another crossover that went from CSI to the show (not on the air any more) that worked all missing person's cases.
Sad, really, because the crossover idea itself, I like. Even written a few fan-fictions that have people from three shows showing up in one story.
I haven't seen Adam 12 in years until I found it on Hulu, and it makes me wonder if Friday and Gannon ever showed up on Adam 12, but I didn't think so -- just Jack Webb's voice-over in one episode.
But Pete and Malloy did crossover into the pilot episode of Emergency -- which was kind of weird, because later on, Emergency had the firefighters WATCHING Adam 12! But it was just a guest bit - not a "to be continued on..." deal.
truth be told, I haven't broken down and got Netflix yet (and now my cable is going up!) but I'm thinking about it, especially since I got a BlueRay with wireless as a work anniversary gift, and just recently set up my wireless, which I didn't even know I had!
If I can figure out how to watch a show on my TV, not just my computer, it might be worth it!
I hate sounding stupid, but I will anyway. I don't know if it has one or not. I know it has a usb port, but the only thing I have used that for is to plug in a flash drive that has movies in AVI format on it -- you know, stuff you download from youtube, etc.
Kinda hard to look at the back of the unit because it is all wired in tight to a rack system.
I wanted to be able to watch it on my tv, but right now, work is so busy, I am lucky I can focus of five hours of tv a week, let alone movies!
I have wireless, I have a blue ray that supposedly is set up for wireless, and I have a computer that is a regular type that sits on a desk -- no laptop or whatever.
I have tried watching, say Youtube through my TV monitor (blue ray turned on) but it just actis like it is loading everything on youtube, and never plays a video, or a movie there. There's actually a great channel to watch old TV movies from the 70's throgh the 90's there that would be fun to get on a tv rather than my computer.
What episode are you talking about, my research says the episode was called grandmothers airing Sept.29 1971 no gun runners in it. the next one was 0ct.6 1971. the episode that officer Reed and Malloy appeared in "the D.A." aired on Oct. 1 1971.
There was a crossover between Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley, where Richie and Fonzie are taken hostage by a Swedish farmer's daughters, it was continued with Richie running to get help from Laverne & Shirley.
This was convenient when the two shows aired back-to-back in primetime.
When they went into reruns, it was tolerable with L&S reruns, but when part 1 aired in Happy Days reruns, as you noted, it was difficult.
Strange thing tho, Happy Days made an ending bumper of Howard Cunningham fishing and Richie runs by calling for help. Fonzie then comes strolling by and says the Swedish farmer let him go when he promised them Ralph and Potsie instead.
Oddly enough, I think the Murder She Wrote/Magnum PI crossover also has a quick ending bit tacked onto it, whichever one aired first.
