I haven't seen Magical Mystery Tour yet, but I'd love too, but I agree Tommy was very weird. Loved it though. If it's weirder than Tommy, I'll probably love it!

Who are you experimenting with when the opportunity presents itself?

MMT doesn't even place 3rd (places about 4th*) in the weirdest movies I've seen. In reverse order:

3) Brazil (1985): Saw this freshman year of high school. Made even weirder by starting it around 4 a.m. Weirdest movie I'd seen, until:
2) A Scanner Darkly (2006): Saw in the theater. I guess as an adaptation of a Philip K. Dick novel, weirdness is to be expected. Then:
1) Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975): Seen 30 Oct. of last year. Like Brazil, seen later than I was in the habit of being awake till at the time (finished around 1 a.m.). Also, it was the full experience (prop bags, shouting at the characters and their remarks, etc.) Still holds the record for the weirdest film I've ever seen.

*Might even place 5th if you want to think about that Sgt. Pepper film with the Bee Gees.

Let's have some love for the weirdness of Naked Lunch. Almost 20 years later it's still an enigma.

The Holy Mountain - a film so melodiously strange and mystical that it would make Dali shout "Okay what the hell is going on here?!".
On the flipside of weird enlightenments into horrifying *beep* would be that brain-melting metempsychotic sojourn Inland Empire.
These are some truly weird films that bend all logic and symbolism with uninhibited virtuosity.

7 years after the OP but what the hell. A few years ago I would have said this was the weirdest, but I've seen The Holy Mountain and Enter the Void, which make any other film (even ones conceived on drugs) look tame. I actually started to wonder whether I'd died in the middle of EtV.
