during the gillespie apartment scene it seemed lots of homosexual tension between the two......any one else think so? just wondering cause for the 60's it would have been good to broach the subject

I did not see any. Two hetero men can meet in setting like that and not have sex.

I agree absolutely not. The mere fact that two law enforcement officers were talking about some personal feelings doesn't automatically indicate a homosexual attraction.

When I was younger, I sensed a bit of a crush, or a little gay thing. Now that I am older, no. I think they were just becoming friends, which was unheard of at that time in Mississippi. I think the Steiger character developed respect and a little idolization for his new friend.

I've watched and rewatched the scene several times.

I think when Gillespie puts his hand on Tibbs' thigh and asks him if he likes watching Gladiator movies ... that's a dead giveaway.

Really? I missed that; however, when Gillespie drags out the 8MM movie camera, hangs an old bed sheet on the wall, and starts showing Virgil silent gay porno films...

There is ZERO indication that Gillespie is gay. And ZERO indication that Tibbs is gay. Completely absurd.

Young people today are under constant bombardment by liberal politicians, the media, and Hollywood to think that everyone is gay. And that being gay is the greatest thing you can be.

Your imagination is working overtime pal. Since the LGTBQ community has been out of the closet for a while now, have achieved a degree of equal rights, and the language of "Political Correctness" allows such discussions to be had out in the open, some see gay or bi-sexual individuals crawling out of the woodwork. There was NO sexual tension nor even a hint of chemical attraction between the two leads. Cops and long-term relationships with women is almost an oxymoron. Now go watch "Brokeback Mountain" and work out your own actual or latent homosexuality.
