This movie sucked, why the hell does it have 8 stars?
Seriously, I turned this crap off within 40 minutes. How the hell could anyone finish this movie?

Beg pardon, old boy, but Gene Hackman did NOT play a sheriff, big-bellied or otherwise. Hackman played Buck Barrow, Clyde's brother. There was a hefty Texas Ranger, played by Denver Pyle, but no sheriff stood out at all.

A film can be barrier breaking and influential and still be dated. The power of this film has diminished with age because the things it achieved are not apparent anymore when viewing the film. That, I feel, means the film is not a GREAT MOVIE.
Kubrick's 2001 still astounds. The Wizard of Oz still astounds. A very similar film, Gun Crazy, still astounds. B&C not so much. Very good but not GREAT.
2001 could be a movie made even today. In general, AND for the effects. This movie is just another extremely dated 60s movie. I can only imagine old men enjoying this film, cos it only speaks to the people who were around at the time it was made. I'm sick of seeing so many 'classics' just cos they were the first to do something, including being the first to make a movie out of a classic story or real life situation. A lot of them, like this one sucks but some people refuse to believe it because it's old.
