Richard Burton is very sexy
and very natural in the role, though I think the dry, rattling laugh is overused. Elizabeth Taylor is not so good as he.

I don't think Richard Burton was suited for the role... there is something missing... I would have preferred Peter O' Toole because I think he would complement Elizabeth Taylor, who was just amazing in her role, perfectly.
"He's not Ginger! He's African Sunset!"
Oh, no...Richard Burton, one of the greatest classical actors of the last half of the twentieth century didn't fit the role...but Peter O'Toole, fun though he is, a king of hamminess who croaked through multiple non-songs in the obscene, elephantine remake of "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" and the horrendous film version of "Man Of La Mancha" would have been a perfect Petruchio....of course...how didn't I see that?
shareAm I the only one who thinks he looks exactly like Jonathan Frakes in this (Riker from Star Trek TNG)? The whole time I kept expecting Picard to pop out from behind a donkey... "Computer, end program."
shareNo.....no, he doesn't look like Jonathan Frakes. Not even a little bit. Do all men with goatees or beards look to you like Jonathan Frakes? Yours must be an interesting world.
