Jane Fonda is SMOKIN'

I know she's not the most popular these days but it's clear that the filmmakers were determined to showcase the beautiful legs and all around sexiness of Ms. Fonda. She is absolutely beautiful, in my opinion. Although I think she over-acted a bit.

She's cute, but that's about it. If you look closely at her you'll agree. I think part of the problem is that she looks too much like her dad. I always hate when I can see a close resemblance between a woman and her father.

reply

Wow, that's pretty sad. Since every woman has a father, there will be a "close" resemblance, whether you see it or not. Try to find the beauty rather than the "If you look closely"'s. I never would have thought of Jane Fonda as alluring and sensuous until seeing this film from 40 years ago.

Maybe if you work on finding beauty rather than faults, you'll go from being the Eclectic Critic to someone that rejoices in their humanity and admires the eclectic beauty in others.

If nothing else, let's see what YOU look like in 40 years! And don't worry. I WON'T look closely.

Life's too short to be so cynical. Thinking critically doesn't mean always being critical. Simon Cowell must be your hero.

reply

No, it's not sad. It's my opinion. You're free to view her any way that you like. And being critical of someone else being critical, as you see it, is a little hypocritical, don't you think? Most women don't look that much like their fathers. In her case, the resemblance is too strong not to notice.

I agree taht Jane Fonda was extremely attractive in this movie

reply

I agree. They were both very attractive. She was made more attractive by her sense of fun. I love her in this role.

Robert Redford was really the best looking man of that era.

reply

I couldn't stand her character for most of the movie, though she came around somewhat in the end.

reply

"though she came around somewhat in the end."

lol, I think that was the point. But yes, she was far sexier not being flippant.

reply

I agree with you about the best looking man of that era..... with the exception that you have to say Paul Newman was right up there with Redford!

reply

Very hot, cute and sexy in this movie although I'm not a big fan of Jane.

reply

I look like my Dad, but I've always been considered quite pretty!

El Paso, Texas...ever heard of it?

reply

I look like my mom and I, too, have been considered quite pretty (two comments-I'm a guy AND I'm kidding-about being considered pretty *wink wink*)

reply

I saw this in the theater as a real young kid, and these scenes seemed extremely sexual to me; but I've always had sex on the brain OR...maybe did this film push me over the edge?

reply

I thought she was pretty hot, but watching a movie from her ten years after this one, she looks way too much like Henry. It becomes weird to think of her in a sexual way because it looks so much like her dad.

reply

She's also WAY hot in the otherwise unwatchable Barbarella, and in Tall Story, her film debut (age 22). And she looked pertty good in On Golden Pond, at age 44!

Indeed. One of the only things that made watching this movie bearable for me.

It's made from bits of real panther, so you know it's good...

She was almost ridiculously gorgeous. While I see a lot of pretty women onscreen today, I can't help but think that they were so much more glamorous and gorgeous in the 60's. I would kill for Jane Fonda's body, especially her legs.

I completely agree with you guys, she was very hot. I haven't seen a lot of her films and this movie took me by surprise. Her legs were so damn sexy!

I found her quirky character adorable. Great acting by everyone.

Best part of the movie was seeing her in action. Great casting and she does work really well with Redford.

killer figure and a shining intelligence in the face..what a combo.

reply

I wish I could go back in time and marry her :o)

I thought she was unbelievably attractive in this film. I wasn't even sure if it was her at first.

I have always taken the view that you can hate everything about Jane Fonda off-camera for what she has said and done and still think she is one of the sexiest women to ever grace a movie screen and who in the right parts can have an endearing quality as she does here. I just ignore the movies she did that had an agenda since that represents her off-screen persona intruding but in this film and in her other great films ("Cat Ballou", "On Golden Pond", "Barbarella" etc.) she is always worth watching.
