Speed Racer-Gael García Bernal (Doubt He'd Ever Do It Though)

Racer X/Rex Racer-Vince Vaughn (Dont Know why so many people give him greef for wanting to play the part, i think he'd be perfect for it.

Trixie-Katie Holmes (Don't Know why, She'd be good though)

Pops Racer-Dick Butkus (Think about, he'd be perfect)

Mom Racer-Eva Tamargo Lemus (She play's the spanish mother on the soap "Passions", loose the accent and she's perfect for the part)

Spridle-Spencer Breslin (Kid from the Cat in the Hat).

Sparky-Elijah Wood (They are both Short and have high pithced voices, need i say more?)

Inspector Detector-(????)

Anyone Think otherwise or would like to add on!?

I agree with your choices for Trixie and Racer X, but other than those two, these are my suggestions:

Speed-Elijah Wood
Sparky-Jason Lee
Inspector Detector-Michael McKean
Tung Blacker-Jack Nicholson
Flash Marker-Will Ferrell
Quencher Block-Al Pacino

BTW:Who the heck is Dick Butkus?

He's on IMDB, just look up his name and find picture of him, then tell me you dont think he looks just like pops racer

It doesn't matter when the last time he was in a film..Movies aren't about HUGE stars! Fred Savage should play Speed racer.

I agree that Elijah Wood would be a good Speed and Lisa Foiles would be a good Trixie. The rest of the cast sounds good to me.

Hold on, you may be on to something... Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Rob Cohen, race cars... Sorry, I was thinking of The Fast and the Furious. And I didn't even like that movie.

Vince Vaughn really isn't much of an action or Horror star, in P{sycho he didn't do a good Job as Norman Bates, In starsky and hutch he is still funny(but then again the film is supposed to be funny)
even in The Cell he isn't very good, not sure if he can pull off Racer X? but if he isk the producer and is a fna of the cartoon, I guess it wouldn't hurt to Try.

Making this movie is a horrible idea in my mind. This cartoon was so *beep* wierd, that trying to make it into something realistic would just ruin the reputation that it has gained. I thought it was a cool idea at first, but now im just praying that they dont follow through with this.

Shinramen, I agree. Tom Welling, the model/actor who rules the small screen as a teenage Clark Kent and the big screen as Charlie Baker in Cheaper By the Dozen 1-2 and The Fog, is the only obvious choice for Speed Racer. He has the same physique, same sex appeal (I am a dude, and I'm str8, so shut it), and same scruffy-looking hair. The rest of the cast, well...

Trixie: Mischa Barton (I don't watch The OC)
Pops: Eugene Levy
Mom Racer: Teri Hatcher (?)
Sparky: Shia LaBoufe(sic)
Spridle: Erik Per Sullivan (Spike in Christmas With the Kranks; young Joe Dirt in Joe Dirt; Dewey on Malcolm in the Middle)
Racer X: Michael Vartan or David Boreanaz (hey, these 2 totally can rock the Racer X outfit better than Vince Vaughn, who was funny in Dodgeball and creepy in Psycho)

When David Lynch's Dune came out, I started thinking about this subject because Kyle in his youth looked alot like Speed to me.
But I really never let the thoughts flesh out much in terms of casting all of the characters other than Lionel a few years later. I had though of Bruce McGill in terms of looks when he got a bit heavier(not from his D-Day years).

But I agree that it really ought to stay animated, I just don't see it as live-action. But I said that about Thunderbirds, and I was impressed with what J Frakes did with that.

No offense, but anyone can turn Speed Racer into a half-assed animated film, but it takes a genius to actually make a real Mach 5, to figure out who best typifies each character in voice AND in looks.

*Ladies love Speed Racer on the show as much as ladies love Tom in real life

OK, Ladies in the show may love Speed, but ladies in real life crush out on Racer X. You'd need a time machine, but my vote to play Racer X would be Roger Moore in his REALLY early days, like when he played in The Miracle. Stupid movie but I will watch it all day long because Moore is so damned dreamy.

Man I cant Stand it When people post STUPID ASS CASTSING THAT DONT MATCH THE CHARACTERS!!!!!

But for speed I do like Eli Wood...Adam Broody or Dan Radcliffe or a young looking guy cause rember Speed is supposed to look almost like a kid that just started Could pull off speed racer as well

Oh man, Tom Welling as Speed Racer? That'd be awesome. I think he's got the right voice-look combination.

Racer X- Hugh Jackman

Trixie- Natalie Portman

Sparky- Matt Lillard

Pops- If he were still alive I'd go with William Hootkins

For a director I'd probably want like Tony Scott, even though he's already done Days of Thunder...still, every time I watch that movie I think it'd be sweet if they did a Speed Racer movie like that.

I agree, Dick Butkus would be a great Pops.

My vote for Speed would be Scott Bailey (III, imdb.com/name/nm0047487, scottbailey.tv). The pics on IMDb aren't great, but there's a 'demo reel' on his site; he just spent 2+ years on a soap opera and from Day One I thought he looked like Speed. He's a little older but he has a boyish face and big round "anime eyes". (An actress with a great anime face [narrow jaw, big eyes] is Charissa Chamorro [imdb.com/name/nm0150563] - perhaps a good Trixie?)
