shareSo many of the episodes feature contrived writing, predictable plots (whether taken from actual cases or not) and bad acting. Every time I see Virginia Gregg show up in yet another episode I cringe a little. So many of the characters, especially the African- or Hispanic-Americans, are blatantly stereotypical, to the point of being insulting! And the "hippie" characters are just straight out of some comic book!
HOWEVER, there was one story I would consider the best, and they made it twice; once in the '50's and again in the later series: the one about the baby Jesus doll stolen from the church. Very touching. A rose among many thorns.
LOL @ the "The Pyramid Swindle" episode with Virginia Gregg!....of course the best part of that episode is that it has POWERHOUSE lawyer to the stars Bert Fields playing the Deputy DA!
I also like seeing the film premier of OJ Simpson in "Community Relations"...where "factory jobs" pay more than a cop!
So many great ones. Even though to be honest others were not so hot. But hey, Babe Ruth struck out a few times, right? My favorites: The Big High (of course). Mister Daniel Lumis. The Big Accident with Clayton Fillmore. Who Killed Who? The dope fiends in the messy commune. Blue Boy. Fat Donna. The girl pretending to be her own younger sister. The Viet Nam vet flying in dope ("hey, want to hand me my leg?"). Brother William. And the legendary Mondo Mabamba!
sharePresently, they have it on here.
shareMy favorite episode will always be Blue Boy aka Benji Carver.
Also any episode with Jack Sheldon aka Schoolhouse Rock singer
My favorite episodes are:
1) Cigarette butt episode. Couple shows F&G they had to use self-defense and kill a man with a knife. F&G were buying the self-defense angle but then they notice a cigarette butt between the dead man's fingers which means he couldn't have been wielding a knife with the same hand. Couple confess.
2) A disturbed teenage boy gets hold of a live grenade and plans to use it to disrupt a girl's party.
3) A juvenile genius leads teams of neighborhood kids on burglaries.
4) Homicide - Who Killed Who? F&G have to solve a multiple homicide going on only the apartment manager's cryptic last words: "OFT ONE."
5) A cop accused of associating with a known bookmaker chooses Friday to defend him before the official inquiry.
My fav is "The Big Prophet." It stands out in many ways, including having both sides score ideological points with the viewers and actually allowing the Gannon character to be more than "Lone Ranger" Friday's Tonto. And Liam Sullivan was one of the series' best guest stars ever.
My people skills are fine. It's my tolerance of morons that needs work.
I just caught the episode "Blue boy" about the LSD story. That's one of the best ones.
shareOh yeah, that's a great one. That poor kid.
