Don Kirshner hated Country Music, so didn't feature Mike much?

Vocally, Mike was actually the best singer in the group. His range and power was incredible. Davey sounded like a frog. But I heard that Don Kirshner didn't care for Mike's Country influenced sound- and he didn't get any singles or kept his solos to a minimum. That's kind of a shame. In many ways, Mike Nesmith was a pioneer in Country Rock.

Davy actually did play drums for one or two songs in concert so Micky could be front and center.

That's pretty cool. I never knew that. I would have loved to see Davy in concert. He was my favorite.

That was Mary Mary. He took over toward the end when Micky went out front to do his James Brown. I don't know if he played on any other song. There was the support band that backed them up on their solo spots.
