Best anthology horror movie?

It is certainly my favourite. It has all the right ingredients: Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Donald Sutherland, wonderful sets, eerie music. Unlike 'Vault of horror', 'tales from the crypt' & 'Asylum', I think "Dr. Terrors...." doesn't have a weak segment. Roy Castle brings some great charisma to a dark humoured voodoo story and Alan Freeman's plant is very spooky and reminiscent of the 'day of the triffids'. Chistopher Lee gives a fantastic performance as an arrogant art critic who gets his come-uppance.

I too recall being scared witless as a child after a late night friday showing. Classic stuff.

I loved this film when I was a kid, but it doesn't stand up so well years later. It's still fun, but I wouldn't call it the best. Seeing it on a double bill a couple years ago with TORTURE GARDEN convinced me that T.G. was the better effort.

I think 'Asylum' was the best of the horror anthologies (from Amicus at any rate), as well as the aforementioned 'Dead of Night'. The 1968 'Spirits of the Dead' (directed by Fellini, Malle, and Vadim) was also top drawer.

Definitely my favorite, so much fun and a great cast.

I like it but there a few I like better. Kwaidan and Mario Bava's Black Sabbath are two I haven't seen listed already.

Still, can't really ever go wrong with Sir Chris and Peter Cushing.

I would rate 'Dr Terror' 3rd behind the 'Dead of Night' and 'Vault of Horror' anthologies.

Definitely one of the best anthology movies (horror or otherwise). Watching it now as I write.

Excellent wrap round story helps elevate above the rest.

You can't palm off a second-rater on me. You gotta remember I was in the pink!

I LOVE Horror anthologies! I think they are so much fun. That being said, I really do not think there has yet to be a stellar horror anthology movie produced. They all have their cool stories and they all have some real snoozers. But my favorites would be:

My two absolute favorites:
BLACK SABBATH
TALES FROM THE CRYPT

Very very good:
HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD
VAULT OF HORROR
TORTURE GARDEN
DEAD OF NIGHT
KWAIDAN
TALES OF TERROR
TWICE TOLD TALES
DR TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS
FROM A WHISPER TO A SCREAM

CREEPSHOW is a very stylish anthology film but unfortunately it runs way too long! Some of the stories (notably "The Crate") need serious edits and "Lonesome Death of Jordy Verill" is just plain stupid!

Some other ones of note:

UNCANNY
ASYLUM
FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE
TALES THAT WITNESS MADNESS
