If you were Miranda how would you have plotted your escape?

That moment when he chlorofoms her after he breaks his agreement to release her, she should have held her breath as long as she could then go absolutely limp. Then he carries her to his bedroom, hopefully he needed to leave the room to unlock all the doors for his path when he carries her back down to the cellar then she gets up hides somewhere in the house to scare him. Make him think that she just dashed out of the house and as he goes out of house shouting her name and racing after her, she makes a fast run for it on the opposite direction he went to.

He is a pitiable, and pathetic character. I would have made nice-nice over time, then whacked him over the nugget and run for the open door.

I would have done the same too. What I never understood is why the hell, after she whomped his a** upside the head with the shovel, she didn't just get in the car (or get his car keys first) and drive the hell off, instead of going back inside---that never made any damn sense to me. She was a smart woman--she should have taken her one sure chance to get the hell up out of these, but she didn't---that was her big mistake.

She could have smashed the mirror to get a shard - we see her look for a razor at one point so she's not completely above the idea of cutting him. Or, simply she could have picked up the heater and thrown it at his head when his back was turned. I was amazed in the scene when she's running about his house that she didn't think to pick up one of his prized butterfly display boxes and threaten to destroy it.

This made me quite angry that she had so little survival instinct. I know it's different when a person is in that situation but she is intelligent and had so many opportunities that it renders the story unbelievable.

Personally I liked my first idea when she got him with the shovel, I would have ran the moment he fell.

The shovel. She didn't proceed with the shovel when she hit him. That was her chance.

Exactly what I said.
