Nah, Oliver was so in love with the idea of being a Midwest grain farmer I can't see the character doing anything else. Also, sometimes you can't go home again. The show worked in 1965 because Oliver was so dependent on the folk of the community for advice because there were few alternatives even when most of it was bad. Today Oliver would go on the internet and seek out guidance from land grant colleges. Oliver in general was not a social type and today he would bypass everybody. Sam Drucker would not even be around as the general store concept complete with proprietor has died off. Oliver would have enough info from various sources that he would have never bought Mr Haney's old tractor as there would have been many negative reviews about it.
