i was surprised they were allowed to be shown sleeping in the same bed. was that only on cbs or did they show that in the last season on nbc too?

shareI can't answer your question, but it should not be surprising. By the late '60s, the "married couples in twin beds" rule had already been scrapped.
shareIn 68 the censor code was dieing a slow death. I you watch shows from 68 to 70 alot was changing for example in Star Trek they showed navels(Cloud Minders) and in one episode they showed Kirk sitting on his bed putting on his boots I can't remember if the woman was lying on the bed at the time though. The episode is called "Wink of an Eye".
"Gentlemen, This is a War Room, There's no fighting allowed in Here!"
yeah, i can see hints of it in those years. on i dream of jeannie in the last year, they never showed tony and jeannie in bed, but there was a scene of them getting dressed in the morning and her making the double bed, so it was implied
but i was just impressed with get smart because there was none of that hinting around, they flat out showed max and 99 in bed together several times in the last season with no reservations about it. maybe since they had babies now, they figured there was obviously nothing to hide, lol.
There was one episode when they were married where they did NOT sleep in one bed though -- the episode where 99 was kidnapped and replaced with a double. Since the episode took place over more than one day, obviously the KAOS 99 had to sleep there -- and since she wasn't married to him, they couldn't put them in the same bed. So for that one episode, it was back to twin beds again!
How sad, that you were not born in my time, nor I, in yours.
Over a year later but .... I remember that too, ghostfan. And I think they thought it important at the time because the woman was actively seducing Max to get him to eat (poison). Probably the queen bed would be too suggestive.
share" dieing "
Come on. Why is this stupid error so common?
The correct form is 'dying', there's no such word as 'dieing'. Sheesh!
If you're saying they showed Shatner's and/or Nimoy's navel, I need to catch this ep big time!
Back in the 50's, Lucy and Ricky shared one bed BEFORE Little Ricky. Once Lucy was "expecting", they were in twin beds!! Ozzie and Harriet shared the same bed, but audiences knew they were REALLY married.
To the best of my knowledge, Darrin and Sam were the first fictional married couple to share a bed (on Bewitched), back in 1964.
That was probably around the same time as Lily and Herman Munster who shared the same bed. Of course when Lily slept, she was just "dead" to the world!
shareOT: one of my favorite "The Onion in History" headlines was "Editorial: Married Couples' Beds are Too Close Together."
