Fans of Bava; what do you think are his 5 best films.

I've only seen 5 and here's what I think;

1. The Girl Who Knew Too Much-very solid mystery, stylish and atmospheric

2. Shock-Creepy with a knockout final 10 minutes

3. Black Sabbath-Insanely stylish and wonderfully moody, the third story is best

4. Hatchet for the Honeymoon-Ultra stylish but unsuspenseful, overall disappointing

5. Bay of Blood-Saw a drastically edited version, I think, and was very disappointed. Totally overrated

I'm surprised by how few people are rating Planet of the Vampires. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but the influence that movie had on ALIEN cannot be understated. They are sooo similar in style and tone.

I have seen more than this, but my top 5 would be...

Blood and Black Lace
Black Sunday
Black Sabbath
Planet of the Vampires
Kill Baby Kill

I personally liked Planet of the Vampires a lot, even though that didn't make into my top-5 this time. But still, that's another lovely Bava gem for sure.

My list after watching 14 Bava films:

1. Kill, Baby... Kill! (1966)
2. The Whip and the Body (1963)
3. Danger: Diabolik (1968)
4. Black Sunday (1960)
5. Blood and Black Lace (1964)

I go back and forth a lot. Fantastic director. Currently these are my top 5;

2. Lisa and the Devil
3. Black Sunday
4. A Bay of Blood
