Love the cinematography. The sound is damn good. Whole movie is very well done, especially for an early 60s film.

Parts of it were way too dark, as I could not see what was happening.

You must've seen a bad print. I watched an HD version and every detail was visible.

One of the most exquisitely photographed movies of all time. Shindo had a few of those (ie Naked Island).

Worth the watch just for that, even though the movie offers much more.
