the addams or the munsters
The addams is better than the munsters.

I like both, but I like the Addams' Family a little better.
Most people see things that are and ask "why?", I dream things that never were and ask, "why not?"

The Addams Family for the writing and acting.
shareLOL,this has been an ongoing debate ever since these shows first aired but what the heck, here's my two cents.I liked the Addams Family better. They had that eccentric old money, never worked a day in their lives air about them and they seem more comfortable with themselves.I also to read the original cartoons by Charles Addams. With the Munsters,I always got the feeling I was watching actors in costume party trying too hard to be funny.

I like both shows, but I think The Addams Family had a more adult feel to it. The actors in The Addams Family seem fit for the parts -they reflect the Charles Addams' cartoons.
shareI thought the munsters were funnier.
"just panties, what else do I need?"
Poseidon Adventure
While both were great, The Munsters was dopey slapstick starring the Universal Monsters, while the Addams Family was cerebral comedy in a dark vein, more clever than pie-in-your-face Munsters.
sophisticated people...in the know...felt the addams family were superior.
sharethat is really the stupidest thing anyone could've said.

"sophisticated people liked the ADDAMS FAMILY" i think says it all….the .MUNSTERS was a rip off when CBS found out that the ADDAMS FAMILY was coming out, (on ABC) so they tried to join the bandwagon with a a "monster family" i do love the AF….
shareFrom the Stephen Cox books.
The Munsters was already in development in the fall of 1963 (the first pilot) when David Levy decided to adapt Charles Addams's drawings/characters for a television sitcom. By February 1964, ABC had finalized a deal with Filmways Television. ABC was originally interested in the Munsters, but for some reason was unable to aquire the property. Obviously, Addams became their answer to CBS's upcoming Munsters.
But Levy now concedes that if it weren't for the Munsters, there might not have been a television version of the Addams Family. "I give them that due," he says.
