Who do you think was the stronger director (not measured in terms of output but in terms of pure skill)?

shareTruffaut.
sharePretty much all other French New Wave directors are "stronger" than Godard.

Truffaut!
RIP...
If the skill of a director is to efficiently communicate something and to make enjoyable films, it's Truffaut by far.
Truffaut is a generous artist. Godard is an intellectual prick.
I consider Godard the most overrated world cinema director ever, so certainly Truffaut. At least 400 Blows is a masterpiece.
shareTruffaut is for squares who like easy to follow, traditional movies. Godard pushed the medium forward and intellectually stimulates his audience.
